If you use google calendar you can add the calendar from the school to your calendar.

The link above has a calendar with the school events on it.  If you look at the bottom of the month there is a +GoogleCalendar button.  If you press that and follow the logins etc you will have all the hot dog days, pizza days etc in the calendar.  You will still have to watch the emails for the spirit days.
