The holiday season is almost upon us, and your Castlefrank School Council would like to take the opportunity to extend a big thank you to all the families, teachers, and students who volunteered their time and participated in the various activities and fundraisers over the last four months.

Through the hot lunch programs, popcorn sales, Fresh From The Farm produce fundraiser, Hallowe’en Dance, and Bake Sale, we have been able to support several activities for our students to enjoy this year, including the Forest of Reading program, Scientists in the School visits for each class, and a concert by Chris McKhool. Keep an eye out for more fun to come in the New Year, including a Family Science Night coming up in February!

The Holiday Movie Night and Silent Auction held earlier this month was a huge success, raising $1,700 to help support several families within our school community this holiday season.  A great big THANK YOU to Amie Schombs and her team of volunteers for organizing this amazing event!! Special thanks also goes out to all the families and local businesses that donated items for the gift basket auction, to Chris Green from Bread and Roses Bakery for providing the delicious cookies, and everyone who came out to support the event.

Finally, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our principal Ron, and wish him well in his retirement. We look forward to welcoming our new principal, Sarah Pope, to the Castlefrank family in January.

School Council is open to all, and a great way to give back to the Castlefrank community.  As we move into the New Year, we are on the lookout for more families who would like to get involved. Subscribe to the School Council blog at castlefrankschoolcouncil.edublogs.org to stay informed about upcoming events, or contact us at castlefrankcouncil@gmail.com with any questions, suggestions, or interest in volunteer opportunities.

On behalf of your Castlefrank School Council, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season.  See you in 2018!
